In light of the ongoing conflict in Sudan, Aafer Foundation for Dialogue, Development, Training, and Research organized a workshop on April 27, 2024, in Cairo, titled "Opportunities to Limit Hate Speech and Political Polarization." The papers addressed regional and international experiences in conflict resolution and peacebuilding, as well as international conventions regarding legal responsibility for disseminating hate speech. The workshop also explored transitional justice experiences in a comparative framework, drawing on regional and global experiences, and ways to benefit from them in the Sudanese context. The workshop was attended by a number of editors-in-chief of Sudanese newspapers, both print and electronic, as well as media professionals, including program presenters and members of journalists' and media professionals' unions. It is planned to continue these workshops in an effort to explore appropriate mechanisms to stop hate speech and incitement to war, and to preserve the Sudanese social fabric.
